The village where nothing happens..

In 1992, the Parish Council had to purchase a new minute book the previous one having lasted 98 years.  It must have been a slow news week because a regional television company produced this small video on the village where nothing happens.  Enjoy.

The bells, the bells…

The Church of St Martin Church, was built in the 13th Century with additional work in the 14th, 16th and 19th centuries.

The church clock and bell mechanism was made by J W Benson of Ludgate Hill, London and fitted in the tower around 1878. It was repaired and reinstalled by Smith of Derby on July 4 2016. The video that follows records the day.

The accompanying music was written and performed by Nigel Spencer and inspired by his twice weekly climb up the tower to wind the mechanism and keep the village “on time”.

This Video shows the true nature of South Willingham, a small English country village lost in time to the rest of the country, where all the village people look out for each other and LOVE their small but timeless little village. Christina and Myself (Roly) have only been here since August 2012, we have been welcomed with open arms and will be staying here as long as our time on this earth allows us.

    We Love You South Willingham.
